In this assignment for physics, our teacher made us researched the difference between Newton's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd law. We had to make a bubble chart to mark out the difference and to recognize the situation that we need to apply them for on the AP test. Then the teacher made us present it to our group. This assignment proved to be very significant because I never knew that there was a difference between Newton's laws. By researching the topic, I learned why Newton's third law does not explain why a ball does not move when I hit it since the force that I exert on the ball is equal to the ball exerting on me when I hit it. I learned a bunch of new physics term from this assignment and I learned how to draw free body diagrams.
In this assignment, our teacher made us researched the topics on thermodynamics. We had to perform a lab where we measure objects at different temperature and see when they melt or evaporate. We took note of their state of matter and described to our group what happened at different boiling point. This assignment proved to be very significant to me because I discovered that increasing pressure in an object can increase the temperature as well. I learned that in reality there is no such thing as cold and heat only exist. Cold is just the absence of heat, just like how darkness is the absence of light.
In this lab, I formed a group with other members in the class and we use light, papers, and lenses to form pictures. We shined the light through the paper and into the lens to form a shadow, then we measured the shadow and see at which distance would the lens create a bigger shadow than the picture. This assignment was significant because this is showed me how glasses work and I learned to never take for the discovery of physics, since the concepts of physics can be used in our daily life. I learned from this assignment the difference between a converging and diverging lens. Converging is like a make up mirror and diverging is for car mirrors.
